The main character is Claudia Virtue and she is a great character for the story to be told from her perspective. The relationships in the story, along with the history and background to the story was my favourite feature to this whole novel. These relationships provide a great twist to this lovely story line. There is some very complex relationships that are shown throughout the story. In regards to the society rebellion I mentioned it is kind of like Ally Condie’s Matched Series, crossed with Veronica Roth’s Divergent, however this book is not as straight forward as that. I greatly enjoyed this book and I cannot wait for the second book to be released.Īs stated above this novel has a very dystopian feel to it. Starting the story, it was a bit hard to get into but as I read more, the deeper I got into this world that Jen has created and I found myself on the edge of my seat. Overall that is a very minor criticism and I praise Jen Alexander for this wonderfully crafted story. If you are an avid reader you will be able to follow, but if you do not like stories like this then it may be and I mean only a very slightly a little bit harder to follow. However at times it feels like the words did not convey what was being bought across the paper. I felt that it kept very true to what I would think was the authors overall idea. So I really liked the story and the progression of the story throughout the novel. So if you are looking for a dystopian book and you feel like these genres of books have become too predictable, I suggest giving this one a go. This had a twist that was very intriguing.

Compared to other “dystopian”, “futuristic” and “society rebellion” novels. If you like “end of the world” and “dystopian” novels you would love this book. The Aftermath was released last year, with still no word on when the sequel will come out. At times it is a real nail biter, so suspenful. This is the very first book for Jen Alexander and it is the first book in the Aftermath Series. I was not disappointed when I finally did get around to reading it. I have been waiting to find time to read it and I finally did. Jen Alexander’s book The Aftermath is a book that I have had on my list for a little while. While I have been away I have read a few books, but not a lot.

So for the month of Feb I have decided to read and review Jen Alexander’s dystopian novel “The Aftermath”.
